CITY COUNCIL FILINGS

**About City Council**
Minnesota Lake's City Council consists of the Mayor (2-yr term) and four council members who serve 4-yr terms. Elections are held in November of even-numbered years and terms are staggered.

Persons wishing to run for City Council must be eligible to vote in Minnesota, at 21 years of age upon assuming office, a resident of Minnesota Lake for at least 30 days prior to the November general election. Candidates also must not have filed for the same or any other office in the upcoming primary or general elections.

City Council elections are non-partisan and candidates run for their seats at large. There is no city primary election; names of all candidates filings will appear on the November general election ballot.

Filing opens Tuesday, July 30, 2024, and continues through 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2024, for Minnesota Lake residents seeking election to the City Council this November.

Voters will elect two Council members and one Mayor selection that begins in January.

Candidates for municipal elective office may file with the City Clerk at City Hall, 103 Main St N., Minnesota Lake, MN during regular business hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The office will remain open until 5:00 pm on Tuesday August 13, 2024, the last day to file. The filing fee is $2.00. Each candidate receives a packet of financial and campaign information at the time of filing.

Candidates for municipal elective office may withdraw by filing an Affidavit of Withdrawl with the City Clerk before 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

Questions may be addressed to Dawn Whitehead, City Clerk at dawn@minnesotalakemn.gov
